Custom closet design is one of my favorite things to do. It allows my creative juices to flow and my brain to work differently from organizing. When I design a closet, I am designing for what you actually own and not a basic template that would include some long hang, and some shelves, some double hang, etc. By tailoring it to fit your belongings, the closet truly becomes a dream. So if you need mostly long hang, or lots of shelves for folded items and shoes, that is exactly what you will get.

Check out these custom closets that ended up a dream space for my client and the stories behind them. Each is truly unique and definitely serves their purpose.

Barbie Master Closet

Every once in a while, you get a client with a vision so specific, it feels like they’ve had it brewing for years. And honestly, I love it! Nothing makes me happier than giving a client exactly what they dream of, down to the tiniest detail. This time around, my client was not just a fan—she was a mega Barbie enthusiast in every sense of the word. Before I even say it, I bet you can already guess where this is headed. Yep. She wanted a pink closet.

Now, we’re not talking a subtle blush or a delicate pastel. This was a pink closet through and through. Technically, the exact shade leaned more towards salmon than a true Barbie pink, but let’s not split hairs—it was undeniably pink. When your heart is in it, salmon is just pink with personality.

But the request for this closet wasn’t purely aesthetic. The original closet, as it stood, had a few, let’s say… design quirks. It was small, cramped, and riddled with awkward angles, making it feel more like a storage than a wardrobe space. The layout was so odd it made you question whether it was intentionally challenging you to fold yourself into new yoga poses just to find a pair of shoes. So, when the homeowners decided to remodel the entire master suite, creating a new closet wasn’t just a luxury—it was a necessity.

And let’s be real: what’s a true Barbie devotee without a Barbie-worthy closet? This wasn’t just going to be a place to store clothes—it had to become a dream space that Barbie herself would envy. We reimagined the layout entirely, opening it up to eliminate that boxed-in, claustrophobic feeling. The new design gave the client room to display her wardrobe beautifully, with custom shelving, compartments for accessories, and, of course, an aesthetic that screamed, “Life in plastic? Fantastic!

It was such a fun project to bring to life—bright, playful, and dripping with personality. The end result wasn’t just a closet. It was an experience. Because when your world revolves around Barbie, there’s no such thing as too much pink or too much sparkle. And if you’re going to step into your closet every morning, why not step into a space that feels like it came straight out of Barbie’s Dreamhouse?

Dressing area

My client base ranges from the local teacher to A-list celebrities. And I enjoy working with each and every one of them. Whether it’s helping someone find peace amid a chaotic space or designing a luxurious space for high-profile clients, the satisfaction is always there.

For this particular project, I had the pleasure of working with one of my celebrity clients to transform a section of her guest house into the ultimate getting-ready space. This area was not part of the main home, but a private retreat she uses to prepare for events—and, on occasion, it doubles as a spot for guests when they visit.

Now, here’s where things got interesting. She didn’t just want a closet, with doors, of course; she also wanted a coffee station. And not just your typical countertop setup—this one needed room for a refrigerator too. Because let’s be honest: when you need your coffee, you really need your coffee.

The final design came together beautifully. We placed the closet system along the back wall, maximizing storage with shelves and hanging racks. Meanwhile, the coffee station found its home on the left wall, complete with a refrigerator, plenty of cabinet space for mugs, pods, and supplies, and just enough counter room for her coffee machine to work its magic.

It was such a fun challenge to create a space that’s both functional and fabulous. Whether it’s being used for glamorous pre-event prep or housing overnight guests, it’s ready to impress—and caffeinate!
